Precautions against Earthquakes

Earthquakes occur frequently in Japan. It would help if you always took precautions against earthquakes.

You can prepare by keeping the following items in your Emergency Backpack: water (or juices, or other beverages), food for two or three days (hard, dry crackers, canned food, etc.), a can opener, medicine, a first-aid kit, a flashlight, and a radio with new batteries.

In case of an Earthquake

Turn off any electric or gas burners. Also, turn off the main gas valves.

Open at least one window or door to create an exit.

If you are indoors during an earthquake, do not go outside as there is the danger of being hit by falling debris.

If you are outdoors, move to an open and safe area, etc.
