Regarding Research Paper / リサーチペーパーについて April 28, 2016

Research Paper schedule (5150010 course code)

Two credit points will be conferred upon passing the final oral examination.

Research Paper can be written during both their first year and second year.

A maximum of four credits can potentially be gained through the submission of a Research Paper.

The paper must be written under the academic supervision of a faculty member. Only those faculty members who teach course at the Graduate School of Public Policy in the same academic year are permitted to be supervisors. Part-time lecturers cannot be supervisors. Please refer to the Research Paper academic supervisors for a complete list.

Students who wish to write Research Paper must first gain a consent of the Research Paper academic supervisor from the list to become their Research Paper academic advisor. Upon gaining consent students must send email to the Graduate School Office as below. The Graduate School Office will send a message to acknowledge the receipt of email to students. Students are permitted, upon gaining consent from a faculty member in advance, to begin preparatory work on their paper before the submission of the Research Paper registration email

The Research Paper will be registered as a two credit point class upon enrollment. Please be aware that these two credit points will count as part of student’s annual credit point limit (maximum 38 per annum) even if the student does not submit a Research Paper (please refer to the Graduate School of Public Policy Regulations, Article 11, Section 2). No registration on UT mate is required.

Please inform the Graduate School Office before the Research Paper submission deadline if you cannot submit your Research Paper or have decided to change your title after the submission of the Title Report.

 

Research Paper Submission Period: Mon, Dec 5, 2016 – Fri, Dec 9, 2016, 4:00 p.m.

All documents are to be submitted to the Graduate School Office.

Research Paper can only be accepted during the submission period. Submission by email is not accepted. When in unavoidable circumstances, please ask a proxy to submit the Research Paper during the submission period.

 

SUBMISSION

Research Paper 3 copies

The Research Paper is to be no longer than 12,000 characters (Japanese) or 4,200 words (English). Students must gain permission in advance from their academic advisor if they believe that their Research Paper will exceed these limits.

To be written using word processing software. It must be written on A4 size paper with each page containing no more than 1400 characters (Japanese) or 490 words (English).

The Research Paper must include a contents page that specifies page numbers.

Submission must include a cover page with Student ID No. and Name.

Each separate copy of the Research Paper must have a cover page with Student ID No. and Name.

Each separate copy of the Research Paper must be stapled. Bulldog and other clips are not to be used. Simple binding is permitted.

Research Paper Outline 3 copies

The Research Paper Outline is to be no longer than 3000 characters (Japanese) or 1,050 words (English).

The same guidelines apply in regards to drafting as written in and .

 

NOTE

  • Students who have gained the prior approval of their academic advisor may not be required to follow the aforementioned format for the Research Paper and the Research Paper Outline.
  • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Plagiarism is a serious offence. If it is discovered that it has occurred, students may have credits cancelled or their degree revoked. This also applies to degrees that have already been conferred.

 

Oral Examination Period: Thu, Jan 26, 2017 – Fri, Jan 27, 2017

Detailed oral examination dates will be announced via email to students.

Due to the schedule of examination judges and other inevitable factors, oral examination will be scheduled outside of the period mentioned above.
