Objectives/Overview

This course has three topics.
1) the impact of international human rights law on general international law
2) the domestic implementation of decisions and judgments of the ICJ and other international courts and tribunals that involve international human rights
3) human rights in Japan from the viewpoint of international law

Required Text

All the materials shall be demonstrated in the first session, which include Hans Kelsen’s works, Concluding Observations by UN Human Rights Committee and Medellín Case in the US Supreme Court.

Reference Books

Reference books will be demonstrated in each session.
