Objectives/Overview

The objective of this class is to provide the ability for policy-making through learning the overview of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) Policy in Japan.
ICT is one of general purpose technologies and has huge and wide influence over not only industries but also social lives. Participants would learn Japan's efforts to adapt to environmental changes under ongoing ICT revolution, compared with the era of Industrial revolution.

This class contains Japan's policies and legislations on fixed and mobile broadband network deployment, competition promotion in telecommunications sector, Internet diffusion, radio frequency allocation, convergence of telecommunications and broadcasting, protection and circulation of intellectual property and personal data, information security, and so on.

Class participation, In-class presentations, and Short essays (1/3 - 1/2 of A4 size) regarding questions and remarks on each class
