Objectives/Overview

日本の政治外交について基本的な見取り図を提供することがこのコースの目的である。研究重点型大学連合(IARU)のサマープログラムの一環として開催される関係から、参加する学生は多国籍であり、そのためにこれまでとは異なった視点から日本政治を考える機会を得ることができるだろう。The purpose of this course is to provide a basic overview of Japanese politics and foreign policy in today's world. As a summer program designed for participants from academic institutions in the International Alliance of Research Universities, the composition of students will be multinational, providing an opportunity for Japanese students to observe their surroundings from a new perspective.

Schedule

The course will cover basic issues in Japanese politics, foreign policy, economy and society. There will be classes on July 10th, 11th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, and the 18th. There may be overlaps with Hoko (make-up classes), but such will be kept to a minimum. The detailed syllabus will be provided in April.

Teaching Methods

Basic readings will be announced prior to class, and the participants are expected to read them carefully. A short presentation by the instructor will be followed by class discussion.

Grading

There will be an examination to be held during the last class hours.
