The issue of health and medical field is one of the pillars on the strategy of the government. Facing the issues arising from fast aging society and the recovery from Tohoku disaster, Japan, we must engage in re-designing its social welfare systems incorporating these impacts of innovative technologies on various aspects of healthcare systems. However, it is hard to say that adoption and implementation of the new mechanism and technology such as ICT has been done smoothly, so far.

The term "risk" represents the uncertainty, has positive nuance as adventure in Europe, but in Japan, it is taken as "unfavorable". Many Japanese seems to have a tendency to prefer the word "safe" than "risk". In addition, the perception in medical field is stronger which might affect the introduction of new technology.

This symposium will address developing medical systems, especially ICT with new technologies through discussions with various stakeholders and specialists. We are inviting Panelists from France and the Netherlands.
