Program Structure

MPP/IP builds a foundation of professional knowledge and practical skills necessary to successful careers in government, business, international organizations and NPOs. The core curriculum is multidisciplinary, consisting of law, politics and economics. Together with case studies and practical training courses, the program prepares individuals to design, plan, implement and evaluate policies.

MPP/IP applicants are required to choose one of the following policy streams and expected to demonstrate basic competence for learning law, politics and economics.

  • Economic Policy, Finance and Development (EPFD)
  • Public Management and International Relations (PMIR)

*Note: Applicants who apply to either IMF-JISPA or JJ/WBGSP should select EPFD.

Economic Policy, Finance and Development (EPFD)

All those involved in public policy now face greater opportunities and responsibilities to address various challenges stemming from globalizing economic activities with evolving social and political systems. Naturally, there is a growing demand for public policy practitioners equipped with professional knowledge and practical skills. Against this background, those who aspire to be globally competitive public policy practitioners are increasingly required to broaden their intellectual horizons, acquire specialized knowledge, sharpen analytical skills and strengthen practical capacities. EPFD is designed to meet this demand by offering courses suited for those who want to advance their careers in government, business, international organizations or NPOs in the field of economic policy, finance and development.

Public Management and International Relations (PMIR)

Globalization along with the growing complexity of social, economic and political systems poses new challenges to public policies as well as to international relations. Public policy practitioners are expected to address these challenges with a high level of professional achievement. Against this background, those who aspire to be globally competitive public policy practitioners are increasingly required to broaden their intellectual horizons, acquire specialized knowledge, sharpen analytical skills and strengthen practical capacities. PMIR is designed to meet this demand by educating individuals who want to pursue a career in government, business, international organizations or NPOs in the field of public management and international relations, including security policy and area studies.
