This course is to study how to be an excellent leader in an international environment (International organizations, multi lateral agencies, international non profit organisations.... ). We learn leadership with a combination of basic principles, self reflection, feedback giving and receiving from others....). Warmest welcome to anybody who wants to unleash potential and be an exemplary leader in your profession as well as in your own life. The course is based on discussion, role plays and presentations. Students taking this course for credits must attend all lectures, participate actively in classroom discussion, present a draft term paper on topics related to the course, and submit the final version of the term paper.
The following is a tentative schedule. A concrete and more detailed schedule will be presented on the first day of the course.
Each class consists of a lecture and discussion on the weekly topic. The course plan is structured with cases and notes developed by Prof. Kawai. The course uses case studies and role plays and focuses on leadership, management and governance issues.
Students are required to read notes and cases before the class and participate actively in the classroom discussion. Case studies prepared by Professor Kawai would be discussed during the course. Students are to write a term paper. Students have an opportunity to make a presentation of their idea to the class so that they can incorporate comments from others into their term paper.
