With LCCs’expansion and airport governance reforms, air transport markets in Japan could drastically change. If the governance forms of the two airports that form start or end of an air transport route are different, what is its impacts on social welfare? When airports could be modeled as three-sided markets among runway/facility-operator, commercial business and airlines, how can we understand such intricate three-sided markets especially on such elements as landing charges, congestion costs and concession revenues?
Assistant Prof. Benny Mantin of University of Waterloo will explain his recent researches on these very important and interesting problems.
