Basic Macroeconomics

Description

Macroeconomics is the study of the economy's performance and the government's role in altering that performance. Macroeconomics departs from microeconomics in focusing on the whole economy rather than its constituent parts.

This course will cover a number of topics in macroeconomics mainly for those who have not studied macroeconomics before. We will use Mankiw's “Macroeconomics” as a textbook because it treats both Classical and Keynesian economics evenly so that we can easily understand the history of macroeconomics.

Students are expected to complete and submit the homework every week. In addition to the two lectures each week, there will be one discussion section a week to review homework and examinations. Grades are based on the homework (20%), two midterms (40% each) and one final (100%).
