Description

Business crime is a crime committed during the normal course of business operation. This course will consider the criminal statutes applicable to business crimes. The course will study corporate criminal responsibility, sanctions applicable to business crimes, corporate crimes, financial crimes, security crimes, antitrust violations, and crimes against consumers. Students are presumed to have basic understanding of criminal law.

Grading will be based on class attendance and participation and final examination.

The casebook for the course will be Shibahara Kuniji, Nishida Noriyuki, and Saeki Hitoshi, Keisu Bukku Keizai Keihou(Cases and Materials on Business Crimes) 2nd ed. (Yuhikaku, 2005).
