Description

Bioethics and the law is an interesting new subject. It requires not only legal skills but also other knowledge of medicine, social policy and ethics. To meet this great challenge, we prepared for a casebook in which we discuss 13 hypothetical cases in medical practice. For instance in the first case a 45 year old woman was found to suffer from Huntington’s disease, a genetic disease not curable at this time. Her family has 50% chance of suffering from the same disease. She asked her doctor not to disclose this diagnosis to her family. What should the doctor do?

Participants are asked to prepare for reading, thinking and discussing this hypothetical case in advance. Our text is "Case Study: Bioethics and the Law," published by Yuhikaku in 2004.
