Law and Medicine

Instructor

Higuchi, Norio

Schedule

Winter Semester; Wed..; Time slot #4

Description

Law and medicine is an important subject for lawyers, physicians and the general public. The course on that subject, however, has never been offered so far here at the law department. Since this course is new, the first thing to do is to map the topics to be discussed. It would cover not only medical malpractice cases, but also a variety of issues including the physician-patient relationship, assisted reproduction, terminal care, ethics committee and medical research and others seen from a legal perspective. Through reviewing the various issues, the focus should be what kind of roles the law could take or should take for better medicine.
