Description

Issues in the field of health care have been caught much public attention recently.
In this course, issues such as uneven geographical distribution of doctors (shortage of obstetricians etc.), medical accidents, and sustainability of health care financing are pick up for case studies and related legal policy issues are discussed.

The objective of this course is to acquire skills of policy making and legislation.
For this purpose, the current health care systems are briefly lectured for each topic, and then, course attendants discuss issues of these systems for the formation of alternative policies and draft bills on these policies.

Each topic is allocated to course attendants and they are asked to prepare alternative policies and draft bills for discussion.

The followings are the examples of topics discussed in this course.

Fair distribution of health care resources.
Sustainability of health care financing
Efficiency and equity in the field of health care
Health care systems for the elderly and long-term care insurance for the elderly
Protection and utilization of personal health care information
Evaluation of the quality of health care and medical accidents
Participation in policy making and management of health care systems
