This lecture offers a variety of perspectives to look into post-independent sub-Saharan Africa . These include characteristics of the African state, logic of African politics, international dimensions of African politics, Africa in the contexts of globalization. Issues raised by close examination of African politics will be further reconsidered in comparative and international political studies.

In this course, participants will have opportunities to watch some VTRs on Africa , so that they can consider the issues more deeply by themselves. They will be required to submit very short reports when they watch VTRs.
