Project DALAA: Disaster Adaptation through Local Awareness and Accountability

By Colette Marie Camille BOBENRIETH, Anaïs Alma BLACHON, Bhatis SUPASORN

This project addresses the poverty-flood debt cycle in northeastern Thailand by providing subsidized loans and flood management education. Utilizing a bottom-up, multi-stakeholder approach, we ensure early issue detection and effective mobilization of resources. With $10M in funding ($6M for implementation), DALAA combines nature-based solutions with financial inclusion to address both climate adaptation and economic vulnerability. This dual approach empowers farming communities to build financial and environmental resilience, creating a sustainable model that can be replicated in climate-vulnerable regions worldwide.
