Overview:
Ms. Kishida will talk about expanding Japan’s global infrastructure business, focusing on MLIT’s roles in overseas infrastructure business promotion.
Regarding Japan’s overseas infrastructure development, first, she will mention underlying the Government of Japan’s approach to infrastructure export. Secondly, she will explain MLIT’s approach to infrastructure export. As to MLIT’s approach to infrastructure export, after briefly introducing MLIT international section, she will describe the Japanese companies’ requests to the Japanese government in global infrastructure business as the current situation. Then, she will introduce the measures taken by MLIT to support Japanese companies’ overseas infrastructure business, including the new scheme for PPP projects. She will also illustrate MLIT’s approach with some cases.

About the speaker

Ms. Rie Kishida is a Director for Global Market Development at Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), the Government of Japan. She currently supports Japanese companies for their international business activities mainly in Southeast Asia. She also represents the Japanese government in EPA/FTA negotiations in the field of construction, real estate and housing. Prior to joining MLIT in 2014, she worked as a corporate lawyer at one of the biggest Japanese law firms for 4 years. She provided legal advice to Japanese and foreign companies for M&A transactions, international and domestic corporate transactions, including cross-border transactions conducted by Japanese companies that expand their business in Asia.  She earned Bachelor of Law from Hitotsubashi University, Juris Doctor from Keio University, and Master of Law (LL.M.) from University of Chicago in the United States. She is an attorney-at-law qualified in Japan and New York State.
