Guest speaker: Mr. Jerald “Jerry” Schiff, Former Deputy Director of the Asia and Pacific Department, International Monetary Fund (IMF)

About the guest speaker: Mr. Jerald “Jerry” Schiff retired from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2015. He last served as Deputy Director of the Asia and Pacific Department, leading the institution’s work on India, Korea, Myanmar, Singapore, and Japan. He served in several other positions at the Fund, including as Senior Advisor in the Office of the Managing Director, and as a Division Chief in the European Department, where he led the IMF’s work on several Eastern European countries. Jerry recently spent several semesters as a Visiting Lecturer at GraSPP and taught at the American University’s School of International Service and George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs. He also serves as a consultant to the IMF’s Office for Asia and the Pacific, helping to design and teach classes to graduate students studying in Japan.
