CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS “Opportunities and Challenges for Vietnam in the Fourth Industrial Revolution—How Could Vietnam and Japan Create Mutual Benefit?” September 26, 2018

Any second-year graduate students currently enrolled in GraSPP interested in making a presentation at a workshop to be hosted by Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) under Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) on November 15, 2018 should submit a short abstract (not more than 400 words) of the presentation with a cover letter describing the motivation by Wednesday, October 3 to Prof. Toshiro Nishizawa (tnishizawa@pp.u-tokyo.ac.jp) by e-mail. The presentation should be on “Opportunities and Challenges for Vietnam in the Fourth Industrial Revolution—How Could Vietnam and Japan Create Mutual Benefit?”. The subject line of the e-mail should be “CIEM2018” followed by your family name.

†: Including students in their second year of study under the Double-Degree Programs.

All the submitted abstracts with the cover letters will be evaluated and up to two applicants will be confirmed of their participation as presenter at the workshop. Please note that CIEM does not cover the cost of student participation in the workshop.

Students confirmed as presenter should try to secure funding by themselves for example by submitting an official application for International Conferences Participation Grant under GraSPP Internationalization Promotion Program.

About the workshop on “Opportunities and Challenges for Vietnam in the Fourth Industrial Revolution—How Could Vietnam and Japan Create Mutual Benefit?”

World Economic Forum on ASEAN held in Hanoi on September 11-13, 2018 focused on the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, where regional leaders discuss opportunities and challenges for ASEAN in an era of technological disruption. Following up on the policy debate at the Forum, CIEM will host an in-house workshop to discuss possible courses of action for Vietnam and Japan to create mutual benefit in an era of technological disruption. The workshop will be held on November 15 following the Vietnam-Japan Policy Research Forum: Deepening Bilateral Cooperation after 10 Years of Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement co-hosted by CIEM and GraSPP. Participants to the workshop are researchers from CIEM and selected graduate students from GraSPP.
