来年度以降の就職・採用活動の円滑な実施に向けた検討の参考とするため、大学4年生及び大学院修士課程2年生の方を対象として、就職・採用選考活動の実態を把握するためのアンケート調査を実施します。 この調査は、内閣府の委託により株式会社マーケティング・コミュニケーションズが実施します。個別の記載内容については秘密を保持するとともに、個人が特定できるような情報は、一切公開されません。
【対象者】大学院修士課程(博士前期課程)2年生 ※海外からの留学生の方、社会人経験があり就職活動をしない方を除く

The academic gown for students who will graduate in September, 2025 will be available from Friday, 1 August to Monday, 25 August, 2025 at the University of Tokyo CO-OP. If you would like to rent or purchase a gown, please see the following web pages and order it through the CO-OP website.
* As the University of Tokyo CO-OP has only limited numbers of gowns in stock, the registration may become impossible before the deadline if the dress goes out of stock.
* When you make a payment at the University of Tokyo CO-OP, you need to present a certificate of expected graduation which is available at the certificate dispensers in campus.
The University of Tokyo will hold the Diploma Presentation Ceremony for AY2025 as follows.
Date&Time: Friday, September 19th, 2025 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (Entrance time: 9:20 a.m. - 9:50 a.m.) Venue: Yasuda Auditorium (Address: 7-3-1, Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo) (Campus Map) Eligibility: Students who graduated (will graduate) between April and September 2025 The ceremony will be held in English. Family members can also enter the venue (Yasuda Auditorium) for the ceremony (No registration required). However, as seating is limited, some may be asked to watch the proceedings via monitors or other means outside the auditorium. As for family members, please come in small groups to prevent congestion inside and outside the venue. A livestream of the ceremony via Internet will be provided (No registration required).In the afternoon of the same day, the GraSPP Diploma Presentation Ceremony will take place. The details will be announced to graduating students.

Research Paper schedule (5150010 course code)
Two credit points will be conferred upon passing the final oral examination. Research Paper can be written during the first year and second year. You can gain up to 4 credits through the submission of a Research Paper.
Though you can register and write Research Paper and Thesis at the same semester, their titles and contents must be different.
The paper must be written under the academic supervision of a faculty member. Only those faculty members who teach course at GraSPP this academic year can be your supervisor. However, Visiting Lecturers and some of Visiting Professors or Visiting Associate Professors cannot be supervisors. If you want to ask Visiting Professor or Visiting Associate Professor to be your supervisor, please contact the GraSPP Office by 2 weeks before the registration period to confirm if he/she could be your supervisor.
If you wish to receive supervision remotely(from overseas universities where you study abroad etc.), you need to have supervisor’s permission beforehand.

Request for SupervisionWhen you contact a faculty member to request supervision, it is recommended that you fill and submit “Thesis/Research Paper Request for Supervision” to the desired supervisor well in advance (3 weeks prior to the registration period would be desirable).

※The Research Paper will be registered as a 2 credit point course. Registration on UTAS will be done by us later. Please be aware that 2 credit points will still count as part of student’s annual credit point limit (maximum 38 per annum) even if you withdraw and does not submit a Research Paper (please refer to the Graduate School of Public Policy Regulations, Article 11, Section 2). In this case, the grade will be “M”.

Each PDF file size for uploading is limited up to 10MB. Research paper/thesis to be on GraSPP website(only the case if recommended by the supervisor and you agree to it), file size should be less than 5MB.
[Notes regarding correction and resubmission after deadline] You are not allowed to correct and resubmit your Research Paper after deadline. However, after oral examination, you can submit the revised version of your Research Paper after consulting with your supervisor and gain permission. When submitting the revised version, please send it by email to GraSPP Office cc’ing your supervisor by the middle of March 2026.

① Your research paper should not exceed 12,000 characters (Japanese) or 4,200 words (English). If it exceeds these limits, you must seek permission from your supervisor. No need to contact the GraSPP office on this matter. ② Please use word processing software to write your research paper. The maximum limit is 1,400 characters (Japanese) or 490 words (English) per page. ③ Must include a contents page that specifies page numbers. ④ Cover page must include Research Paper title, student ID No, and your Name. ⑤ UTokyo or GraSPP Logo is not available. ⑥ The first page should only be used for cover page. NOTE:
Students who have gained the prior approval of their supervisor are not required to follow the aforementioned format for the Research Paper and the Research Paper Summary. There is no need to notify GraSPP Office about the matters which are gained the prior approval of supervisor. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Plagiarism is a serious offence. If it is discovered, students may have credits cancelled or their degree revoked. This also applies to degrees that have already been conferred.GraSPP response to Misconduct in Research
For students who wish to continue with the PhD program with Graduate School of Public Policy or Graduate Schools for Law and Politics, "Thesis" is compulsory(Research Paper is not sufficient). As for the PhD programs of other departments/graduate schools, students are required to check the application criteria on their own. ▼Oral Examination Period: Wed, Jan. 28, 2026 – Fri, Jan. 30, 2026Examination date and time will be fixed based on the agreement between students and judges. If necessary, it could be scheduled outside of the period above(but needs to be in time for the grade report). Please consult with your supervisor. Upon receiving your research paper, we ask all supervisors to adjust the schedules of oral exam members, fix the date and report the oral exam date to us.
Information regarding online exam of the joint courses with School of Law and Faculty of Law, may be provided through UTAS. Please also check the bulletin board after logging in to UTAS.
As for the examinations and make-up lectures schedules of the joint courses with School of Law and Faculty of Law, please check each bulletin board and following Web sites. Especially, please check the venues for examinations and the precautions each time. Be careful about the examination venues because it may be different from usual lecture rooms.
