Deadlines/Event Dates September 10, 2019
On 1 June 2019, Mr Warren Fernandez, Editor of The Straits Times and Editor-in-Chief of Singapore Press Holdings English, Malay and Tamil Media Group was elected President of the World Editors Forum in Glasgow, Scotland.
In September 2019, major Asian Media in Asia will be collaborating with Singapore to raise awareness on the World News Day and the importance of truthful and accurate reporting from the newsroom across Asia. The World Editors Forum with the support of the National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) Council of Singapore will be launching a World News Day Photo Competition – “MY NEWS.MY STORY” Capture Your Take on the News.
Young people between the age of 12 and 30 can share with us their experience of being in the news – either being reported about, sharing a photo of them enjoying a good, impactful story that affected them and their community. Young people can certainly get creative with their entries.
Closing date for entries is 10 September 2019, 5pm Singapore Time.
Organisers have deliberately given a short notice for this competition so as to encapsulate the nature of news being timely and swift with very short deadlines.
The winning entries will be announced on 28 September 2019 during the World News Day 2019 Youth Forum to be held at the Enterprise Development Centre, ITE College Central.
