Course Code: 5122508
Course Title: Strategic Communications – From Concepts to Application [Capstone]
Instructor: Chiyuki AOI/ Toshiro NISHIZAWA in association with Neville Bolt & Sympodium Institute for Strategic Faculties Communications
Overview: This innovative capstone course will introduce to the GraSPP curriculum a professional-level education/training on concepts and practices in Strategic Communications, in association with the Sympodium Institute for Strategic Communications (London). Defined as the use of words, actions/nonactions, images, and symbols to shape and shift significant discourses in societies, Strategic Communications plays a central role in international affairs, especially in the promotion of the rule-of-law-based international order. As such, it has emerged as a major subject for education and training in advanced nations across the globe, as well as in international organisations such as the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
This course will provide GraSPP students an opportunity to work with external professional clients from the public sector (government agencies) and to familiarise themselves with practical problems that arise when conducting Strategic Communications.
Class will start on 28 November (online, with one session taking place in the classroom), and will continue until 23 January. For details, please see UTAS.
