GrasPPers Visit Isogo Thermal Power Station July 19, 2018

Faculty news

On 14 July 2018, a group of GrasPP students of “Energy Security” and “International Energy Governance” classes (Professor Arima) visited J-Power Isogo Thermal Power Station. Isogo Thermal Power Station, which was originally constructed in the late 1960s and reconstructed in 2002 (Unit 1) and 2008 (Unit 2) based on an anti-pollution agreement with Yokohama City, is a compact, urban coal-fired thermal power station that has simultaneously achieved reducing environmental burden and improving energy efficiency at the world’s highest level. Participating students deepened their understanding about high efficiency low emission coal-fired power generation technologies and the role of coal in energy mix through Q&A and discussion during the site visit.
