“Join us for an interactive conference convening justice sector actors and other stakeholders to discuss approaches to strengthening the formal justice systems’ responses to violence against women and girls (VAWG) in Asia and the Pacific region. The conference will identify common gaps and barriers, good and promising practices, and successful outcomes, as well as increase regional knowledge sharing on better handling and adjudication of VAWG cases. Participants will comprise judges, prosecutors, lawyers, government officials, civil society organizations, academia, development partners, and other interested parties.”

ADB features an interactive conference addressing issues around gender-based violence and gaps in justice systems in the Asia-Pacific region. This is a great opportunity to learn first-hand from judges, prosecutors, lawyers, government officials, and academia about the common practices and existing obstacles in dealing with sensitive subjects such as violence against girls and women. The event promises an engaging discussion to improve our understanding of ‘Responsive Judicial Systems.’ With more young voices participating, it aims to generate greater awareness.
ADB’s invitation to GraSPP students was received via Ms. Zhansaya Imanmadiyeva (Jan), a second-year master’s student, who led a group of students at a virtual meeting on “Reality Check: Are Justice Systems Just to Women and Girls?” with Ms. Christina U. Pak, Principal Counsel, Office of the General Counsel of ADB, during the International Field Workshop in August 2021.
