経済政策コース入学予定者の皆さんへ

～必修３科目の準備について～

 

間もなく、公共政策大学院での新学期が始まります。

経済政策コースでは必修科目として「Microeconomics」「Macroeconomics」「Econometrics for Public Policy」と各Practice Sessionが開講されていますが、2025年度は最初の学期に必修科目のうち「Microeconomics」「Econometrics for Public Policy」の２科目が（関連するPractice Sessionも）開講されます。単位取得が大学院修了要件となりますから、入学前から周到に準備して、失敗のないようにしてください。とくに英語での講義に慣れていない人には英語が大きなハードルになるかもしれません（Aセメスター（A1A2ターム）の「Macroeconomics」も英語で講義されます）。しかし、心配はいりません。皆さんの先輩の多くも当初苦労しましたが、１年生を終わる頃には、英語の授業を抵抗なく受講できるように育っていきます。もちろん、事前の準備と受講時の努力が不可欠です。 

入学前の事前の準備は、経済学の勉強と英語の勉強の両方が必要です。ミクロ経済学とマクロ経済学は皆さんの多くがすでに学部レベルの勉強をしていると思いますが、あらためてこれまで使用した教科書を復習することが有効でしょう。計量経済学も同様です。これらの科目を未修の人は独習での予習を始めることをお勧めします。

また、授業で使用される教科書を事前に入手して、勉強を始めることも有効です。Sセメスター（S1S2ターム）では、これら必修科目の講義が週４コマ（２コマ×２科目）ありますから、これまで英語を読む習慣がなかった人は、授業のペースに合わせて教科書を読むことがかなり重荷になります。入学前の春休みの期間に教科書を読み進めて、英語を読むこと、英語で経済学を学ぶことに早めに慣れるようにすることは、大きな助けになるでしょう。 

2025年度Sセメスター（S1S2ターム）に開講される２科目で使用する教科書は以下のようになっています。

 【Econometrics for Public Policy】 Angrist, D. Josh and Jorn-steffen Pischke. (2014). "Mastering 'Metrics: The Path from Cause to Effect" (Paperback-Illustrated), Princeton University Press (ISBN 978-0691152844)

Econometrics for Public Policyでは、Wooldridgeの教科書のAppendixに載っている程度の確率・統計の基礎知識を前提にします（和記号Σの使い方も前提となります）。統計学を未修の人は、Appendixの内容を事前に予習するか、日本語の教科書（例えば、ポール.G.ホーエル（著）、浅井晃、村上正康（訳）『初等統計学』培風館。同じ著者の『入門数理統計学』と混同しないように注意）で知識を補うようにしてください。  Aセメスター（A1A2ターム）に開講されるEconometrics for Public Policyでは以下を教科書として使用予定です。 Jeffrey M. Wooldridge, Introductory Econometrics: A Modern Approach, 7th Edition, South-Western (ISBN 978-1337558860)  * 7th Editionより古い版の使用も可。
