We are pleased to announce that we will hold the 93rd Public Policy Seminar by welcoming His Excellency Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, the Secretary General of the ICAO（International Civil Aviation Organization). The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) was established in 1944 as a specialized agency of the United Nations under the Chicago Convention, and this year marks its 80th anniversary. Participants will deepen their understanding of the role that ICAO has played in promoting the development of international civil aviation, fostering international cooperation, and establishing international rules. In recent years, international civil aviation has been required to address global challenges such as strengthening resilience against infectious diseases and achieving carbon neutrality, as well as adapting emerging technologies. What strategies is ICAO implementing to tackle these issues? Together with panelists from the aviation industry and the next-generation participants, this seminar will envision the future of international aviation. We plan to allow an interactive Q&A session with participants, so we strongly encourage you interested in transport, new aviation technology, and global careers to attend this event.

About the institutionDigital Music Securities (DMS) is a soon-to-launch music startup that will utilize advanced blockchain technology to develop a new type of music business globally. The copyrights held by musicians are protected by the blockchain, and a portion of master copyrights can be sold to raise funds in a transparent way. The cash flow generated from the music will also be visualized on the blockchain to protect the rights of the musicians. DMS will operate in English to cater to world musicians from the beginning and plans to expand globally. About the ChapterChapter 4 | Space assets as critical infrastructure? The socio-economic value of space infrastructure in Japan
Very little research has been produced to try to quantify the value of space assets for society and the potential damage that a disruption of space-based services would incur. This chapter explores whether, in a similar manner to other critical infrastructures, space assets hold a significant value in our society due to the difficulties faced in substituting them with alternatives. It further proposes a simple theoretical model to comprehend the macroeconomic benefits of vital space assets from a governmental standpoint.

The University of Tokyo "Fostering Advanced Human Resources to Lead Green Transformation (GX)” project (Project officer : Professor Shin-ichi Ohkoshi) supported by Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by Next Generation (SPRING) of Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) is the program that 1,154 doctoral students participate from all schools of the University of Tokyo.
