- About GAUC
GAUC is a Global Alliance of Universities on Climate. Currently, 15 Universities form GAUC. The University of Tokyo is participating the alliance from its establishment in 2019. Tsinghua University is the secretariat.
2.Purpose of the Program
The Climate x Leadership Program aims to provide students with frontier systematic practical training, and regional/global supporting communities to grow their knowledge to tackle climate issues.
3.Program Contents
The program consists of three parts. Programs are held online.
1) Courses:From June 18, 2022 to July 30, 2022 every Saturday. 9pm to 11pm (JST)
Organized by GAUC member university (Sciences Po、Imperial College London、Stellenbosch University and so on)
faculties in an interactive method that students will learn the knowledge and have the opportunity to speak up to lecturers and fellow classmates.
2) Group works: August 6, 2022, to August 27, 2022 every Saturday. 9pm to 11pm (JST)
3) Global Youth Summit on Net-Zero:October 30, 2022 to November 4, 2022.
*In the flyer, it says that outstanding ambassadors will have the opportunity to attend COP27 but UTokyo will not send students to Egypt.
- Eligible Applicants
Undergraduate Students, Graduate Students of the University of Tokyo with the following eligibility requirements:
・ Interested in climate change and sustainable development
・Possess outstanding climate change leadership, research, or practice skills with specifically, 1) leadership experience organizing events such as forums and student unions; or 2)awards or published papers related to sustainability; 3) running civic climate action organization
・Demonstrate strong English comprehension and expression abilities
- Capacity
5 to 10 students from each GAUC member institution
If there are more than 10 applicants, there will be a selection based on the brief reason for applying.
