Past, Present, & Future…?
A special Indiana University / University of Tokyo Joint Webinar

September 29, 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of Japan-PRC diplomatic normalization, which saw Tokyo switch recognition from Taipei (Taiwan, aka the Republic of China) to Beijing (aka the People’s Republic of China).

This webinar–co-organized by Indiana University Hamilton Lugar School’s 21st Century Japan Politics & Society Initiative and the University of Tokyo’s GraSPP Research Seminar series–brings together U.S.- and Japan-based experts to jointly reflect on the Japan-China relationship’s past, present, and future, including the implications of vicissitudes in ties between the world’s second- and third-largest economies for the United States.

This event will be co-moderated by Profs. Adam P. Liff (Indiana University) and Akio Takahara (University of Tokyo), who will also serve as panelists.
