This guest speaker seminar is organized in conjunction with Case Study (Writing Public Policy Cases for SDGs), which aims to discuss the public policy-related challenges and opportunities to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Mr. Jerald Schiff, who served as Deputy Director of IMF’s Asia and Pacific Department from 2011 to 2015, is going to share his experience at IMF.

About the guest speaker: Mr. Jerald “Jerry” Schiff retired from the International Monetary Fund in 2015. He last served as Deputy Director of the Asia and Pacific Department at the Fund, where he led the institution’s work on India, Korea, Myanmar, Singapore and Japan. He served in a number of other positions at the Fund, including as Senior Advisor in the Office of the Managing Director, and as a Division Chief in the European Department, where he led the Fund’s work on several Eastern European countries. Jerry has recently spent several semesters as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Public Policy., and has also taught at American University School of International Service and George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs. He also serves as a consultant to the IMF’s Office for Asia and the Pacific, helping to design and teach classes to Graduate students studying in Japan.
